The Citrus Festival is a very famous and photogenic (but kitsch) event taking place in Menton (France) every year, since 1934. I’m still not sure whether the oranges and the lemons are wasted after the show or not. Some say they make alcohol out of them, but anyway, this event brings a lot of money from tourism- I imagine waaaay more money than any other idea of using the fruit. On the other hand though, as most festivals in the world, it’s not an eco-friendly event given the amount of trash left behind… Well, enough ranting, just enjoy the pics (2019 and 2018).
